Weaving in Nature

Join us for a peaceful summer evening of weaving in nature! Portland-based artist Hannah Watson will introduce us to the fundamentals of weaving on a small, portable frame loom, providing the space for students to relax and unwind in the Blooming B-street gardens. This workshop will cover a brief history of weaving along with guidance in warping the loom and weaving various techniques like tapestry and striping patterns. You may choose from a selection of vibrant and textural yarns provided in the workshop, and you may also choose to incorporate materials from the surrounding landscape into your woven piece. You’ll head home with your own notebook-sized wooden frame loom along with your new textile creation.

Instruction will conclude at 8pm, but folks are welcome to continue enjoying the space and weaving together until 8:30pm! No experience needed, all materials provided.
